Kathmandu: Agni Foundation, the nonprofit wing of Agni Group and the sole authorized distributor of Mahindra vehicles in Nepal, celebrated Agni Group’s 35th Anniversary by marking a significant milestone in its corporate social responsibility journey. As part of the celebration, the Group took a meaningful step towards community empowerment by handing over two Mahindra XUV400 electric SUVs to the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH) at an event held in Budanilkantha, Kathmandu.
Speaking at the handover, Susan Vaidya Shrestha, President of Agni Foundation, said,
“For 35 years, we have grown together with our teams, partners, and communities. Today, we take a small but meaningful step to support KIOCH in reaching more children and families with care and opportunity. KIOCH is not just a medical institution, it is a place where hope is protected, families find strength, and futures are nurtured. We are humbled to support this meaningful work.”
Expressing gratitude and highlighting the impact of the support, Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala, Chairman of Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH), said,
“KIOCH carries out a wide range of public health activities including school health programs, district health system strengthening, and community health initiatives that involve screening for many childhood diseases. These vehicles will be used across all these programs. In short, thousands of children will benefit directly, and many more will benefit indirectly by making our operations smoother. We thank Agni Foundation for enabling KIOCH to take important steps toward making child healthcare more accessible to the children of Nepal.”
The initiative reflects Agni Group’s philosophy of “Rising Together”, which emphasizes that true progress is measured not only by business milestones but also by the lives touched and communities uplifted. The Mahindra XUV400 EVs with their eco-friendly electric drive, advanced safety features, and long-range capability will support KIOCH in expanding its outreach programs, making travel for healthcare, education, and community initiatives smoother, safer, and more sustainable.
Agni Foundation remains committed to advancing sectors such as health, education, sports, and disaster recovery, and continues to collaborate closely with government bodies. Beyond this initiative, the Foundation has previously supported the renovation of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, including establishing a dedicated “Agni Wing” lounge for parents of admitted children.
KIOCH’s mission is to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children under 18 years at a subsidized rate and with international standards all under one roof. This mission directly uplifts vulnerable communities by ensuring children have access to equitable, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare.
Supporting KIOCH aligns perfectly with Agni Group’s vision of creating meaningful impact. This milestone not only commemorates 35 years of the Group’s growth but also honors the shared journey of the communities it serves, reinforcing the belief that together, we rise.
