inDrive Strengthens Support for Drivers in Nepal, Announces NPR 2.2 Million Fuel Support Initiative Amid Rising Costs

KATHMANDU: inDrive, a global mobility and delivery platform, reinforces its commitment to fair and accessible mobility in Nepal as rising fuel prices and cost-of-living pressures continue to impact both drivers and passengers.

As Nepal’s ride-hailing ecosystem grows, it has become an important source of livelihood for thousands of drivers while offering affordable transport options for commuters. However, recent market conditions, particularly increasing fuel costs have placed significant strain on driver earnings, while passengers remain sensitive to fare increases.

Recognizing this dual challenge, inDrive emphasizes the importance of maintaining a fair balance between driver income sustainability and passenger affordability. The company acknowledges ongoing concerns raised by the driver community and supports broader efforts to address structural challenges affecting the transport sector.

Fuel Support Initiative for Drivers

As part of its immediate response to rising operating costs, inDrive Nepal is introducing a NPR 2.2 million fuel support initiative dedicated to supporting its driver-partners, starting from 15th April 2026. The initiative will be distributed based on driver activity and performance metrics, ensuring that those who rely most on the platform receive targeted financial support.

This initiative is designed to help mitigate the impact of fuel price increases on driver livelihoods, enabling drivers to maintain more stable earnings without placing additional financial pressure on passengers. It reflects inDrive’s continued commitment to implementing practical, market-responsive measures that support driver sustainability while preserving affordable access to ride-hailing services.

Strengthening Driver Earnings and Flexibility

Complementing this initiative, inDrive continues to implement measures aimed at improving driver earnings and autonomy. These include:

  • Reduced commissions on selected rides
  • Performance-based incentives to reward active participation on the platform

Globally, inDrive maintains one of the lowest commission structures in the ride-hailing industry, reinforcing its commitment to driver-first economics.

inDrive’s peer-to-peer model already provides flexibility by allowing passengers and drivers to negotiate fares directly, enabling trip prices to better reflect real-time operating costs.

Commitment to a Balanced Mobility Ecosystem

“Rising fuel costs directly affect our driver partners, many of whom rely on daily trips as their primary source of income,” said Sunita Jeemi Rai, Senior Driver Operations Specialist, inDrive Nepal. “We believe platforms like ours have a responsibility to introduce practical, immediate solutions while continuing to build a system that is fair for both drivers and passengers.”

As Nepal’s mobility landscape continues to evolve, inDrive reaffirms its commitment to working closely with driver communities, partners, and stakeholders to address emerging challenges. The company will continue to monitor market conditions and adapt its initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability.

“At the heart of our platform is fairness,” Rai added. “By supporting drivers while keeping rides accessible, we aim to build a resilient mobility ecosystem that works for everyone.”
